All five candidates running for governor are expected to appear today before the Agricultural Council of Maine to explain what they think should be done to improve the business climate for farmers.

Each candidate will get 45 minutes to address the council and answer questions. The program started at 9 a.m. with independent Shawn Moody. The event is being held at the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine in Augusta.

Moody, of Gorham, said there were 20 dairy farms in town when he was growing up.

"I know I'm going to lose 20,000 votes for saying this, but we need to change the Maine state drink from Moxie to milk," he said.

Democrat Libby Mitchell is next, followed by Republican Paul LePage, independent Eliot Cutler and independent Kevin Scott.
