WATERVILLE — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine seeks local businesses, organizations and individuals to join in this year’s Bowl For Kids’ Sake May 1-10. Events will be held in Waterville, Skowhegan and Augusta. Teams raise pledge money, and then bowl in support of mentoring programs in Kennebec and Somerset counties, according to a press release.

Special events manager, Monica Charette, said in the release “Bowl for Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters’ largest fundraising event, raising $200,000 overall in the agency’s six-county service area and over $75,000 at the Kennebec Valley events. All money raised at the May events will support programs in Kennebec and Somerset counties.”

Businesses and individuals can register a team online at bbbsmidmaine.org, select a desired bowling date and time, and download pledge forms to raise money. Bowlers can also create personal online fundraising pages where supporters can make electronic pledges. Teams that raise $300 or more will receive free T-shirts at the event. Individuals who raise $100 or more are entered into the drawing for a gas grill, courtesy of Home Depot in Waterville. There will be hourly bowling prizes awarded, and a special recognition event this summer for highest fundraisers.

Local businesses can support the event by becoming lane sponsors, donating prizes and registering teams to participate. Volunteers are also needed at the event.
