WEST FARMINGTON — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Franklin County Office, will hold a workshop on hayfield and pasture management for farmers and others who own such land to make it more productive and profitable. Rick Kersbergen, Extension Educator from Waldo County, will lead the series from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at the Farmington Grange, 124 Bridge Street, Route 43.
The Got Hayfields workshops will focus on how to best manage hayfields and pastures for producing high-quality feed for livestock. Topics will include: managing soil fertility, hay and pasture renovation techniques, grazing management and the basics of forage quality.
Cost is free, but donations to the Grange are appreciated for the use of their facility. There is no cost for this workshop, pre-registration is requested.
