Maine children and adolescents up to age 21 can help raise awareness for youth mental health by participating in the 2014 Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week Poster Contest.

Crisis & Counseling Centers’ Youth & Family Services — comprised of G.E.A.R. Parent Network (Maine’s National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health), Generations and Maine Mothers Network is sponsoring Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, celebrated the week of May 4-10, in collaboration with THRIVE and Youth MOVE Maine.

This year’s awareness theme, “Building Circles of Wellness,” showcases the importance of community members working together and supporting one another in being healthy. Through art, children and adolescents are invited to share what wellness looks like to them. Artwork should demonstrate what it means to have a circle of wellness that promotes positive health and reduces stigma.

The poster contest winner will be awarded $50 and the prized artwork will be featured on the agency’s Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2014 Poster.

To enter the contest and for more information, visit gearparentnetwork.org, call 800-264-9224 or email cyeager@crisisandcounseling.org. The submission deadline is April 20.
