Bingham Union Library receives Plum Creek Foundation grant

Morning Sentinel Staff

BINGHAM -- The Plum Creek Foundation recently awarded a $1,500 grant to the Bingham Union Library to help fund an energy-efficiency project and additional building renovations.

According to a library press release, Library Director Rachel Tremblay says there has been considerable heat loss due to the building's age and the lack of insulation in the second floor and front section of the library.

"The addition of insulation in the basement and attic will prevent substantial heat loss through the roof," said Tremblay in the release. "Thanks to the help of the Plum Creek Foundation, the project will decrease our costs and enhance energy efficiency, enabling us to increase the budget for books, programs and other materials."

The library plans to begin installing insulation this August.

The mission of the Library is to provide a welcoming environment and to foster an interest in reading for education and enjoyment. Bingham Union Library strives to enrich the lives of its patrons by providing books and reading materials, technology, informational services, programs and activities to people of all ages in the community.

The mission of the Plum Creek Foundation is to provide philanthropic contributions to support and improve the general welfare of life in the communities that Plum Creek serves.
