NORTH ANSON -- Katelyn Kniffin of Embden, a senior at Carrabec High School, was selected to receive the 2010 Principal's Award, Principal Kenneth Coville announced recently. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship.
Principal Coville says, "Bright, upbeat, kind, and considerate are just a few of the words that come to mind when describing Katelyn Kniffin. Her smile lights up a room and makes everyone feel comfortable and happy. Talented and hardworking, this senior is self-motivated and has a mature attitude toward learning while still possessing a sense of fun."
A student council representative and a National Honor Society member, Kniffin acted as a page for the State of Maine Senate, was a Mountain Valley Conference All-Star in soccer during her junior year, and has won many academic awards.
Kniffin enjoys playing the guitar, snowboarding, taking part in outdoor activities and traveling. She can be found working as a cashier, a packer and a janitor at a local business while maintaining a GPA of 95.5. This is why Coville was happy to announce that Kniffin is the Carrabec High School MPA Award recipient for 2010.
Kniffin will attend an awards luncheon on April 3 where she will receive her award and be eligible to be selected for one of five scholarships.
