Morning Sentinel Staff

FARMINGTON -- Maine author Jennifer Wixson will be featured at a reading and signing event at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Farmington Public Library . Wixson will read from her latest book in the Sovereign Series, "Peas, Beans & Corn," published in June. Wixson is a farmer, author and itinerant Quaker minister. She writes from her home in Troy, where she and her husband raise Scottish Highland cattle.

In 2012 Wixson created the Sovereign series, four novels set in the mythical small town of Sovereign, Maine, populated by good-hearted and lovable characters.

Paul Frederic, author of "Canning Gold: Northern New England's Sweet Corn Industry," will join Wixson to talk about Maine's historic sweet corn canning industry.

All events at the library are free and open to the public.
