WATERVILLE — Hardy Girls Healthy Women will partner with MaineGeneral Health to offer two Mother-Daughter Adventures in June. The adventures are for girls in second through sixth grades and their mothers looking to try something new.

The first adventure is Operation Surgical Robotics, set for 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 9, in Dean Auditorium at MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Thayer Campus, with Dr. Karen Bossie of Waterville Women’s Care. Bossie will show participants what a day in the life of a surgeon is all about. There will be a tour of the operating room and an exploration of the latest in medical technology. The visitors will see how the da Vinci robot, a four-arm surgical robot, works.

Skin Deep Science is set for 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 23, also in Dean Auditorium, with Karen Sennett, certified operating room nurse and first surgical assistant, and Becky Maheu, licensed practical nurse, to learn about the largest organ in the body — the skin. Participants will get to use a skin analyzer, learn ways to protect their skin, and see how sunblock works.

To register, call Hardy Girls Healthy Women at 861-8131 or visit hghw.org/adventuregirls. Registration costs $25 per mother-daughter pair for each session. Scholarships are also available, and space is limited to 10 pairs per session.
