16 charged in North Anson underage drinking party case

NORTH ANSON — Police charged 16 people in connection with an underage drinking party that took place over the weekend.

Those charged include Christian Grenier, 20, and Andrew McNevin, 21, who live in the house at 438 River Road where the party took place Friday night, according to a report from Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff's Depart\0x1Fment.

Grenier was arrested on a charge of furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol and McNevin was summoned on the same charge.

Police charged eight people under the age of 21 with a civil violation of possession of alcohol by a minor, according to Gottardi. He would not identify them.

Six people under the age of 18 also were charged with a civil violation of possession of alcohol by a minor, said Gottardi. Those charged were from the Norridgewock, Solon, Anson, Fairfield and Madison areas.

The Maine State Police, in addition to the Somerset County Sheriff's Department, responded to the scene.
