Fairfield Police Sgt. Paul St. Amand monitors a car that burst into flames on Norridgewock Road on Tuesday. Driver Margaret Genest said at the scene that the car was not accelerating normally and she pulled off the side of the road. A moment later she said she saw smoke followed by fire coming from under hood. “That’s when I decided to get out,” said Genest, of Fairfield. The car was extinguished and traffic resumed. There were no injuries, according to St. Amand.
