Kennebec County Superior Court sentencings
AUGUSTA — A woman accused of a felony-level charge for setting a cardboard box ablaze 2 1/2 years ago in the basement of her home pleaded guilty today to a lesser offense of criminal mischief.
Kimmie Cockrell, 40, of Augusta, has been on deferred disposition for a number of months and has done very well, her attorney told the judge today in Kennebec County Criminal Court.
Justice Donald Marden accepted Cockrell's guilty plea and sentenced her to 364 days in jail, with all but 102 days suspended (credit for time served), and one year of administrative release.
Conditions of that release ban Cockrell from using or possessing incendiary devices and restrict her to living in supported housing.
A number of other people were sentenced today in separate hearings in Kennebec County Superior Court:
• Jarred M. Arbour, 27, of Winthrop, domestic-violence assault Dec. 25, 2011, in Winthrop; 48-hour jail sentence.
• Dominic Allen Bailey, 33, of Sidney, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer April 27, 2012 in Sidney, and unlawful possession of an opiate Aug. 2, 2012, in Oakland; 180-day jail sentence, all but 30 days suspended, one-year administrative release, $1,100 fine, $360.34 restitution (already paid).
