FAYETTE — A local woman was hurt Thursday when her car crashed into a pickup truck on Fayette Corner Road.

Crystal Gatcomb, 18, of Fayette, was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with what were believed to be non life-threatening injuries, said Deputy William Johnson of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. as Gatcomb was driving her Nissan Altima four door west on Fayette Corner Road. Williams said the Altima crested a hill ran into the side of a Ford F-150 pickup truck being driven by 55-year-old Richard Kilpatrick of Auburn. Kilpatrick, who had been driving east on Fayette Corner Road, was trying to turn left onto Morris Springer Road and turned into the path of the Altima, Williams said.

Kilpatrick, who was issued a traffic citation charging him with making an unsafe left turn, was also issued a summons charging him with operating after suspension.

Both vehicles were damaged and had to be towed away, Williams said.
