Oxford Hills coach resigns after posting nude photo

The Associated Press

OXFORD — A high school football coach who posted a nude photo of himself on Facebook has resigned.

School Superintendent Rick Colpitts confirmed to the Sun Journal that former Oxford Hills School District football coach Paul Withee posted a photo that was intended to be seen by a personal friend but was inadvertently posted to the public.

Colpitts accepted Withee's resignation today.

Withee was placed on paid leave after a parent notified district officials on Feb. 7. He told the newspaper that "I'm embarrassed, I'm ashamed, I'm humiliated." He said his Facebook page was not available to the public and that none of his Facebook "friends" were students.

Withee took the Oxford Hills job last March after 19 years at Foxcroft Academy, where his teams won three state championships.
