GRAY — Four men face terrorizing charges after allegedly trying to force their way into a home in Gray, apparently in retaliation for a previous incident.
The group tried to force their way into a home on Forest Lake Road on Wednesday, cutting power to the home and trying to kick in the door, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. One was allegedly armed with a handgun.

The men were unable to get through the door and eventually left, police said. Nobody was injured.
The group fled in a car that was found a short time later in the neighboring town of Cumberland, the sheriff’s office said. Police did not find a gun.
The incident was believed to be in retaliation for an assault that took place over the weekend at the Eagles Club in Portland, where the victim in Wednesday’s incident allegedly attacked one of the four men now charged.
Police charged Andrew Thorne, 49, of Portland with felony terrorizing, and charged Scott Lombardi, 58, of Portland, Michael Maietta, 58, of South Portland and Joseph Nightingale, 61, of Falmouth with misdemeanor terrorizing.
Maietta is a former Scarborough police officer. He was employed from 1993 until 2002 when he was terminated, according to the town’s Human Resources Department.
All four were taken to Cumberland County Jail and posted bail, which ranged from $150 to $300.
They have a court date set for Oct. 16.
Falmouth police assisted with the investigation.
