AUGUSTA — Maine gasoline prices continue to fall, but not as fast as they are nationally.

Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com said Monday that the average cost of a gallon of gas in Maine dropped by nearly 4 cents in the past week, to $3.48. Nationally, prices dropped by 8 cents a gallon to $3.25.

Maine prices are now 12 cents a gallon lower than a month ago, but 14 cents higher than the same day last year.

In New Hampshire, by comparison, the average retail price of gas fell 5.3 cents in the past week to $3.35.
