BATH – A local home health care nurse has been arrested by Bath police and charged with stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a client.
Stephanie Walker of Phippsburg was charged Tuesday with theft by unauthorized taking and receiving stolen property – both Class C felonies.

Police Chief Michael W. Field said an investigation began in July after a Bath resident reported that “thousands of dollars of jewelry had been taken from the residence over a period of time.”
At the time, a family member in the home was receiving home nursing care from a company that employed Walker.
Detective Sgt. Robert Savary learned that Walker had allegedly sold some of the stolen jewelry to a local gold and silver exchange company.
Police obtained a warrant and arrested Walker at the Bath Police Station. She was later released on bail with conditions that she have no contact with the victim.
Walker is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on Dec. 11. Conviction on a Class C felony crime carries a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
