Sen. Christopher Johnson, D-Somerville, defeated Rep. Les Fossel, R-Alna, in the race for Senate District 20 following a recount Tuesday.

Johnson got 10,943 votes and Fossel got 10,772, according to the Department of the Secretary of State. Senate District 20 covers 19 Lincoln County towns, two in Knox County and the Kennebec County town of Windsor.
Another recount, House District 29, is set for this evening. In that race, Democrat Stanley Short apparently defeated Republican Robert Engelhardt Sr. by 15 votes.
