FARMINGTON — The fate of two people charged in an ax and meat cleaver attack on a man at a Farmington home is in the hands of a jury.
The Sun Journal reports that a Franklin County jury is scheduled to continue deliberating Thursday in the case of Brian Sweeney and Shari Dupree, both charged with aggravated assault in connection with the alleged attack last April.
Prosecutors say the ax-wielding Sweeney and the cleaver-wielding Dupree attacked Jeremiah Gattis.
Sweeney and Gattis were friends and former roommates and the dispute was apparently over a tattoo.
The men wrestled and Gattis required treatment at a hospital. Gattis testified that Dupree hit him over the head.
Defense lawyers say Sweeney went with Dupree to get his belongings, and Gattis was the aggressor.
