AUBURN — Jury selection has begun in the trial of a 31-year-old man charged with beating and drowning a Lewiston woman whose body has never been found.

Attorneys began questioning prospective jurors Monday in Androscoggin County Superior Court in the trial of Buddy Robinson of Lewiston.

Robinson has pleaded not guilty to killing 22-year-old Christiana Fesmire, who disappeared in July 2011. Fesmire and Robinson lived in separate apartments in a two-unit building in Lewiston, where police say Robinson killed Fesmire before dumping her body in a wooded area.

Court documents have portrayed Fesmire as part of an online prostitution ring led by Robinson’s sister, who told police that her brother confessed to the killing.

Robinson’s lawyer has said evidence points to Robinson’s sister as an alternate suspect.
