Kusiak takes Fairfield, Rome to win House 84 seat

Karen Kusiak, D-Fairfield, defeated incumbent John J. Picchiotti, R-Fairfield,  2,244 to 1,973 Tuesday in a race for House District 84.

Kusiak took two of the district’s three towns, winning in Fairfield 1,698 to 1,442 and in Rome 303-254. Picchiotti won in Smithfield 277-243.

Kusiak, 59,  is a lifelong educator and said she would emphasize investments in the state’s infrastructure and schools as a way to make Maine more attractive as a place to live and do business.
