WATERVILLE — Waterville Mayor and Republican gubernatorial candidate Paul LePage addressed an overflow Waterville Rotary Club meeting at noon on Monday.
LePage told the crowd of about 100 the Maine taxpayer has been "ignored and vilified" for years.
"It's about jobs, jobs and better jobs," he said. "We need a gov that is going to pay attention to Maine people and not special interests."
If voters are satisfied with the status quo, he said they should vote for his opponents.
"You want a governor that's not always politically correct and puts his foot in it, you've got me," he said.
