A Lincoln man is charged with assaulting a woman in a moving vehicle on Interstate 95 in the Hartland area, according to police.

Seth Thomas Giggey, 41, allegedly assaulted the woman multiple times while the two were driving north on Interstate 95 Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Maine State Police. He was charged with aggravated domestic violence assault.

The assault began in Hartland, in Somerset County, and continued about 20 miles to the Penobscot County town of Plymouth. The woman, whose identity was not released by police, was able to get out of the vehicle at one point, but was physically forced back inside, according to the release.

She was eventually able to call 911 with her cellphone near Plymouth and officers were able to track down Giggey after he fled the area, police said.

Troopers from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department and Lincoln police assisted the state police. Giggey is in custody at the Somerset County jail and is being held without bail, according to a booking agent.
