AUGUSTA — Emergency management officials are reminding Mainers to clear snow from their roofs with additional snow falling across the state this week.

The National Weather Service says a winter storm warning is in effect across parts of Maine into with some places expected to get up to a foot of snow by the time the storm ends.

With the state already experiencing an extremely snowy February, the Maine Emergency Management Agency says the heavy, wet snow of the latest storm carries a lot of weight that some roofs might not be able to withstand.

Director Rob McAleer says homeowners should also make sure that all heating vents are clear of snow and that oil tanks are protected from snow and falling ice.
