Man charged with sexually assaulting child

BROOKS — A Dixmont man was arrested today after allegations surfaced that he sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl, police said.

Alfred Seekins, 49, of 17 Masonic Road, Dixmont, was charged with two Class A felony counts of gross sexual assault, according to officer Jason Bosco of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department.

The alleged sexual assaults occurred multiple times this past June, Bosco said. The case was referred to police through the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, he said.

Seekins is scheduled to appear in Waldo County Superior Court in Belfast Oct. 28. He was released today from the Waldo County Jail after posting $500 cash bail.
