FARMINGTON — A woman was arrested Saturday in connection with a search for her missing son, who was located several hours after he was reported missing.

Police discovered the 4-year-old boy, who was reported missing by his mother around 6:30 p.m., had been with his father at his home in Chesterville, according to Sgt. Edward Hastings IV of the Farmington Police Department.

Hastings said authorities originally thought they were looking for a child who had wandered away from a home. After police contacted the boy’s father, they learned the child was at the father’s home and found the boy there.

He said the search involved game wardens, Maine State Police, Franklin County sheriff’s deputies and Wilton police.

Police would not release the names of the child or his parents late Saturday. Additional details were expected Sunday.
