Just after Mainers finished digging out their driveways and walkways, another significant storm is expected to drop nearly a foot of snow in central Maine by Sunday morning.
The National Weather Service has forecast that 8 to 12 inches of snow will accumulate Saturday night into Sunday morning, with heavier snowfall predicted along the coast.

The snow, which comes just two days after nearly a foot of snow was dropped on the region, is expected to be at its heaviest from about 9 p.m. Saturday to daybreak Sunday, according to meteorologist Michael Cempa for the weather service in Gray.
“The worst of it will be ending during Sunday morning,” he said.
The snow will be accompanied by wind gusts of up to 30 mph, Cempa said. Sunday is expected to be partly sunny, with temperatures in the high 20s; but another, smaller round of snowfall may hit central Maine on Tuesday, Cempa said. The week could be milder after that, he said.
“Another storm system coming Tuesday may drop a couple inches of snow, but it’s looking like no big deal,” he said. “Toward the end of the week, it could be in the high 40s on Thursday and Friday and possibly the weekend.”
