Skowhegan charged with assaulting teenage girlfriend
MADISON — Police arrested a 19-year-old Skowhegan man early Wednesday for allegedly assaulting his 16-year-old girlfriend.
Police were called to Brown Street for a report of a domestic dispute around 5:35 a.m. They found that Corey S. Gardea had bruised his girlfriend and caused extensive damage to the house, said Madison Police Chief Barry Moores.
The girl did not require hospitalization, but Gardea was uncooperative with police, Moores said.
Officers Toby Blodgett and Brett Lowell responded.
Gardea was charged with assault; failure to provide a correct name, address or date of birth; aggravated criminal mischief; and domestic-violence assault.
He remained in Somerset County Jail late Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $10,500 cash bail.
