Crash injuries send woman to hospital

ST. ALBANS — A St. Albans woman was taken to the hospital early Thursday morning suffering from serious injuries after a car accident on Nokomis Road.

Michelle Richard, 32, was traveling north in a 1996 Toyota car when she lost control and left the road, said Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office in a news release.

The accident appeared to have been the result of speed, he said. Richard was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor by helicopter for possibly severe head and leg injuries, according to the release.

St. Albans Fire Chief Jason Emery said Richard was conscious when she was rescued from her car but he wasn’t sure of her condition Thursday afternoon. A spokesperson from Eastern Maine Medical Center did not return a phone call Thursday afternoon.
