Four charged with Elm Plaza shoplifting

WATERVILLE — Four people were arrested in four separate incidents of shoplifting at Elm Plaza within a five-hour timespan Monday afternoon.

Nicholas A. Zeytoonian, 20, of North Street in Waterville, was arrested after he allegedly stole an iPad from Radio Shack and sold it at nearby Gamestop at about 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Zeytoonian was arrested at the Thayer Center for Health parking lot after an officer spotted his vehicle, according to Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.

Zeytoonian was charged on a warrant for unpaid fines from an operating without a license conviction and for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when an officer found a glass pipe on him.

Roughly two hours later, Ashley Linn Loisel, 20, of Fortier Street in Winslow, was arrested after she allegedly stole face wash, makeup remover and milk from Hannaford Supermarket. Officers found Loisel walking on Armory Drive shortly after the theft was reported to police.

Loisel was charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and violating the conditions of her release.

An hour and a half later, about 6 p.m., Kassey Marie Corbin, 20, of Clinton Avenue in Winslow, was arrested after she allegedly stole a bottle of alcohol from Hannaford supermarket. Corbin was summoned about two hours before for allegedly shoplifting at Rite Aid on Main Street, according to Rumsey, but she was arrested after police found her on Armory Drive shortly after the second incident was reported.

An hour later at 7 p.m., Joshua James Waldeck, 27, of Chamberlain Street in Augusta was arrested after he allegedly stole a couple bottles of alcohol from Hannaford.

Store loss prevention employees confronted Waldeck outside of the supermarket, where he returned the bottles, Rumsey said. When officers arrived, they searched Waldeck and found hyperdermic needles and a small amount of what is thought to be crack cocaine, Rumsey said.

Waldeck was arrested and charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, an unlawful possession of a scheduled drug and the sale or use of drug paraphernalia. Waldeck also had a warrant out for failure to appear in court, stemming from a separate theft charge.

All four have court dates on Jan. 7 at Waterville District Court.
