SKOWHEGAN — Five people were taken to a hospital early Saturday evening after a two-vehicle collision on Route 150.

Skowhegan police Officer Josh King said it appeared that a blue Ford pickup truck was heading north on Route 150, also known as North Avenue, followed by a silver Buick LeSabre about 6 p.m. When the pickup apparently tried to make a U-turn, the Buick struck the truck.

Three people were in the pickup and two were in the Buick, and all five were taken with injuries to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, King said.

He did not know the nature or extent of their injuries Saturday evening.

Accident reconstruction teams from the Somerset and Penobscot counties sheriff’s departments were on the scene, where the pickup truck remained on its side and the LeSabre was nearby with damage to its front at 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

King said the investigation into the accident was continuing and more information was likely to be available Sunday.
