MANCHESTER, N.H. — A 2-year-old New Hampshire boy has some bumps and bruises, but is otherwise fine after falling about 20 feet down an old laundry chute and getting stuck.

Firefighters said the boy, named Cayden, climbed into the chute on the second floor of his home in Manchester about 7:15 a.m. Thursday. Family members could hear him screaming.

Cayden’s father, Eric Leger, fractured his arm punching a hole in the wall to get to his son. He could hold his hand and see the top of his head. Firefighters eventually broke through a wall and cut some wires in the basement to rescue him.

Cayden was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

His family has nailed the laundry chute door to the wall.
