BRENTWOOD, N.H. — A New Hampshire woman accused of giving a drug to a 19-year-old woman hours before the teen drove into some cyclists, killing two, has been indicted by a grand jury.

Foster’s Daily Democrat reports 48-year-old Cindy Sheppard of Hampton was indicted on charges of dispensing a controlled drug and possession of fentanyl, cocaine and methadone while on release on bail. She also was accused of allowing an improper person to operate a vehicle.

Police said Sheppard gave fentanyl to Darriean Hess after the younger woman was pulled over for speeding. Eight hours later, the unlicensed Hess was speeding in the same stretch of road when she crossed the center line and hit some cyclists.

Killed were Pamela Wells of South Hamilton, Mass., and Elise Bouchard of Danvers, Mass.
