FARMINGTON — A 59-year-old man from St. Regis Falls, N.Y., was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-car collision on the Farmington Falls Road, police said this morning.
The man will not be identified until Farmington police are able to notify his family. Police said the man was driving a 1969 Volkswagen van eastbound at about 4:50 p.m. when another vehicle driven by Theresa White, 46, of Ashburham, Mass., attempted to cross Farmington Falls Road onto Mason Road, toward Croswell Road.
White, who was driving a 2006 GMC pickup truck, apparently was blinded by the sun as she pulled out into the path of the Volkswagen, which struck the truck and went off the road, according to a release from Farmington police.
When police arrived, they found the New York man dead at the scene. White was not injured.
Blood tests were taken and will be sent to the Maine Health and Environmental Testing Lab in Augusta for analysis, as is routine in a fatal accident.
Sgt. Michael Adcock of the Farmington Police Department is the primary investigating officer. He was assisted at the scene by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, University of Maine at Farmington police, Wilton police and Maine State Police.
