An Oakland man who was out on bail on drug charges from Kennebec County was arrested on new drug charges Monday in Fairfield.

Brian P. Ouellette, 43, was a passenger in a pickup truck that was stopped by police on Bigelow Hill Road just after 3 p.m., according to Dale Lancaster, chief deputy at the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.

Lancaster said the county warrant team led by Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi conducted a drug search warrant on the Ford Ranger pickup in which Ouellette was riding.

The search warrant was approved by the courts as a result of an on-going drug investigation, he said.

Police seized 176 controlled narcotic pills from the pickup. The pills seized were 30 mg Oxycodone, 1 mg Percoset, 20 mg Ritalin and 15 mg Adderall. Also seized was $1,191 in cash, a small amount of marijuana, digital scales and drug-related paraphernalia, according to Lancaster.

Ouellette was arrested and charged with three class B felony counts of trafficking in narcotics, one count of furnishing narcotics, a class C felony, and one count of violation of condition of release.

Lancaster said Ouellette has a long criminal record that includes of felony and misdemeanor convictions.

He was convicted of gross sexual assault in 2003 in Portland Superior Court. He was sentenced to prison and is a lifetime registrant of the Maine Sex Offender Registry.

At the time of his arrest, Ouellette was on bail in Kennebec County for possession of Oxycodone.

Lancaster said Ouellette allegedly has been selling pills in Somerset and Kennebec Counties. The sheriff’s department worked in collaboration with the Waterville and Oakland police departments during the investigation, Lancaster said.

Ouellette was being held at Kennebec County jail Tuesday night.
