One man is dead and another was severely injured in a head-on collision on Route 196 in Topsham Monday evening.

The driver of a Ford Ranger pickup, Richard K. Wright, 71, was headed east when he crossed the center line and collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Howard Wilson, 70, of Lisbon, who was headed west toward Lisbon at 8:30 p.m., according to a police statement.

Just before the crash, the Ranger had swerved into oncoming traffic and hit another car a mile west of the crash site, but nobody was injured, police said.
