ORONO — Orono police say an officer has been fired after being arrested on a drunken driving charge.

A Hancock County sheriff's deputy arrested Officer Joshua Gunn late Friday night in Dedham, where his car had gone off Route 1A.

WZON radio in Bangor says 30-year-old Gunn has lost his job as an Orono police officer as a result.

Police Chief Gary Douket says Gunn was hired in November and previously was a Hampden officer.

He is to be arraigned on the drunken driving charge April 2.
