BRUNSWICK — Brunswick police say they are investigating the theft of tens of thousands of dollars from a fraternal organization in town.
Officers of the Knights of Pythias reported to police on Jan. 16 that they believed another officer from the organization had taken "tens of thousands of dollars" from an account.
Capt. Mark Waltz says a 27-year-old Lewiston man who belonged to the group has been identified as a suspect.
He did not disclose the person's name because formal charges have not been filed.
The man has been cooperative with investigators and Waltz says charges are expected.
Police tell the Times Record the man stole the money between the summer of 2009 and the summer of 2011.
