AUGUSTA — State election officials will recount the votes in the House District 29 race between Republican Robert Engelhardt Sr. and Democrat Stanley Short Jr., both of Pittsfield, on Tuesday. 

Engelhardt lost by 15 votes in an unofficial tally of 1,853 to 1,838. The recount will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Department of Public Safety headquarters in Augusta and is open to the public.

The house district also includes Clinton and Detroit.

Maine Secretary of State staff members and representatives from each candidate will review each ballot manually to find an official vote total.
