Three men have been arrested in the last two days, one in Kennebunk and two in Saco, after police in those communities began separate but similar undercover operations to crack down on lewd behavior that had been reported in multiple locations.

In Saco, an Old Orchard Beach man was arrested Friday afternoon after he exposed himself to an undercover detective in the Cascade Falls area, Saco police said.

Steven Armstrong, 61, was charged with indecent conduct after he was videotaped in the act by Detective Fred Williams about 1:30 p.m. on Industrial Park Road, according to police.

The same detective arrested another man Thursday for allegedly doing the same thing. Michael Smith, 46, also of Old Orchard Beach, was charged with indecent conduct after Williams recorded him exposing himself, police said.

Saco police have received several complaints in the last few months of suspicious behavior on the trail and the parking lot on Industrial Park Road. Police have arrested five people as a result of the complaints. Armstrong and Smith are scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on Aug. 16.

In Kennebunk, an Ogunquit man was accused of grabbing an undercover officer through his clothing after striking up a conversation at a York Street rest area.

Kennebunk police began the undercover operation after receiving complaints about lewd activity there and at Rogers Pond.

Daniel Bushey, 67, was charged with unlawful sexual contact. He is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on Sept. 18.
