PITTSFIELD — Democrat Stanley B. Short Jr. will seek re-election to a second term serving in the House of Representatives.
Short, 62, is serving his first term as a representative of House District 29, which includes Clinton, Detroit and Pittsfield. He serves on the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee.
Short, who announced his candidacy in a news release Monday, is retired and previously worked in labor relations, most recently at Bath Iron Works, and worked in the welding and fabrication business in Pittsfield. Short began a career as a certified pipe welder in 1976 at S.D. Warren in Hinckley, where he held positions as a member of Local Lodge 2740 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, the release said.
He was born in Waterville and he is a graduate of Lawrence High School in Fairfield and Southern Maine Vocational Institute. He and his wife, Debora, live in Pittsfield, and they have two children and five grandchildren.
