Speeder caught at 120 mph in Bowdoinham

Kennebec Journal staff

Maine State Police say a 17-year-old caught driving his father's Hyundai at 120 mph on I-295 in Bowdoinham is the agency's "Speeder of the Week."

"Junior was driving dad's Hyundai and wanted to show his teenage passenger how fast it would go," said state police spokesman Steve McCausland, in his weekly news briefing The Communicator. "(Trooper Jonathan) Leach clocked him at 120 mph."

"In addition to a court date," McCausland added, "the boy's parents were also called."
