WATERVILLE — Three people were taken by ambulance to the hospital Friday afternoon after a two-car accident on Silver Street caused by ice on the road, police said.

A northbound vehicle driven by 65-year-old Rose Dubois spun around and struck an oncoming car driven by Stephen Rogers, 56, with Patricia Rogers, 72, riding in the passenger seat, according to Officer Linda Smedberg of the Waterville Police Department.

Smedberg said Dubois’s car likely slid on a patch of ice before the cars collided at 2:42 p.m.

The cars came to a stop in the middle of the road, and Smedberg said police and Waterville Fire Department personnel directed traffic around them. Dubois’s Pontiac Grand Prix and the Roger’s Toyota Prius were both towed from the scene and Smedberg said they were likely totaled.

Smedberg said all three of the people were taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Thayer Center for Health in Waterville. She said Patricia Rogers and Dubois were taken by stretcher to the ambulance. Stephen Rogers was also injured and taken in one of the ambulances.

Late Friday night, Patricia Rogers and Dubois were listed in fair condition and Stephen Rogers had been released from the hospital, said MaineGeneral spokeswoman Joy Leach.
