PERU — Police say a Dixfield man died after his car went out of control and crashed near the Peru-Rumford town line.

WMTW-TV reports that Jake Pomeroy of Dixfield was driving east on Route 108 around 1:30 a.m. Thursday when the accident happened. Police believe he hit a patch of black ice, lost control of his vehicle and was ejected when the car crashed. Pomeroy was not wearing his seat belt.

Just as Pomeroy’s car went out of control, a pickup truck, also heading east, tried to get out of the way of Pomeroy’s vehicle and crashed. The driver of that vehicle was taken to Rumford Hospital, where he was treated and released.
