Waterboro hand counting ballots after voting machine breaks

Town Clerk Yvette Murray said the machine, which she described as old, stopped working Tuesday, forcing officials to hand count 112 ballots.

WATERBORO — Waterboro election officials will spend Wednesday afternoon hand counting ballots because of a broken voting machine.

Town Clerk Yvette Murray said the machine, which she described as old, stopped working Tuesday, forcing officials to hand count 112 ballots. The tally will resume at 2 p.m. and she expects results to be available by late afternoon.

Results will be posted on the town website.
