WATERVILLE — The city, Waterville Main Street, and Waterville Development Corp. will host a groundbreaking celebration at noon Sunday at Head of Falls along the Kennebec River off Front Street. The event will be part of Waterville Main Street’s Harvest Fest activities, to be hosted Saturday on Main Street and at Castonguay Square; and Sunday, at Head of Falls.
The groundbreaking will allow the public a chance to learn more about current and future development at Head of Falls. Plans include construction of a plaza, restoration of the Two-Cent Bridge, and development of a community green space and festival area.
City Manager Mike Roy will take part in the events.
“The Head of Falls property is a critical component of an effort to create a more vibrant downtown,” Roy said. “We encourage the public to come down and see the great potential this project has for not only the City of Waterville, but the entire region.”
