AUGUSTA — An accident on Riverside Drive caused by a vehicle waiting for a pedestrian to pass led to one driver being taken to the hospital with minor injuries Sunday morning.

A 43-year-old Bar Harbor man tried turning left immediately after pulling onto the roadway from the Maine-ly Gymnastics parking lot, but he had to stop for an unidentified pedestrian, said Augusta police Lt. Kevin Lully.

The injured driver, a 55-year-old Waterville woman, was driving north when she tried avoiding the stopped vehicle, but poor road conditions prevented her from doing so, Lully said.

The women was treated and released shortly after being taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.

Lully said neither driver is pressing charges.
