ROCKPORT — A celebrity skipper from the reality TV show “Deadliest Catch” is helping to kick off the Maine Fishermen’s Forum.

Keith Colburn from The Discovery Channel show was scheduled Thursday to talk about the differences in crab fishing in the Bering Sea compared to fishing on the East Coast.

The forum is one of the largest industry mixers in the country and runs through Saturday at the Somerset Resort in Rockport. There will be seminars sharing research about Maine’s fisheries as well as information sessions on topics from survival training to enrolling in health care under the Affordable Care Act.

The event marks the 39th year the forum has taken place.
