BINGHAM -- Residents sailed through the proposed $627,045 budget at Monday night's town meeting, approving every item.
About 50 people turned out for the hour-long meeting to pass the budget, which is down 4.2 percent, or $26,106, from last year.
The cuts come from a freeze in town employees' pay and from small amounts taken from various line items.
In the only contested race, Thomas Moore and Ray Francoeur will succeed Norman Dionne and Ellen Giberson on the School Administrative District 13 board, Town Clerk Jeanette Jacques said.
Moore received 60 votes. Francoeur received 55, and Guy Fortin received 18.
The meeting was "pretty straightforward," with no debate, Jacques said.
Some approved expenditures include $125,259 for general government, $159,007 for public safety, $86,682 for health and sanitation, $130,050 for public works, $2,000 for general assistance, $23,900 for public properties, $63,800 for debt service and $15,000 for local organizations.
