Carrabassett Valley holds elections, meeting Wednesday

CARRABASSETT VALLEY -- Voters will be asked to approve a budget slightly larger than last year's and choose two selectmen.

On Wednesday, March 10, elections will be at the town office from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The town meeting will reconvene at the Outdoor Center at 7:30 p.m.

The three people running for the two selectmen seats are: Incumbents Lloyd Cuttler and Robert Luce as well as Richard Rose.

Next year's proposed budget is approximately $1.9 million, according to town clerk Wendy Russell.

"Last year, we raised and appropriated $1.8 million," she said. "We don't know what the school budget will be yet."

Voters will also be asked to approve an updated shoreland zoning ordinance. They'll also be asked to authorize selectmen to enter into a new airport hangar leases to allow the construction of up to six new private hangars.

Jane Luce and Jennifer McCormack are running unopposed for school board seats.

Sanitary district trustees Carl Demshar and Neal Trask also are running unopposed.
