HARMONY -- The Harmony Free Fair starts at 3 p.m. today and runs through Monday at the Patriarchs Club Fairgrounds in Harmony. Admission to the fairground and parking are free.
Today’s events
4 to 7 p.m., Entries for the Exhibition Tent are accepted; cash premiums are awarded in all categories.
5 p.m., truck-pulls registration
6:30 p.m., David Gill and Old Blues Cats
7 p.m., truck pulls begin under the lights; admission $3 per adult; preschoolers, free
7 p.m., cribbage tournament, starting with singles
Saturday events
10 a.m., Exhibition Hall opens with a variety of arts and crafts, produce and 4-H exhibits.
Noon, the demolition derby; admission $5 per person; preschoolers, free
All day, the children’s area offers activities such as face painting, play dough making and preparations for parades.
Noon, beano starting in the Beano Tent
1 p.m., barrel-racing competition
1:30 p.m., Bob Elston and the Road Rangers
3 p.m., Bob Elston and the Road Rangers
4 p.m., pie auction
5 p.m., Bob Elston and the Road Rangers
5 p.m., quarter-scale tractor pulls start; admission $3 per person; pre-schoolers, free
7 p.m., cribbage tournament with doubles
7 p.m., Jessica Prouty Band
Sunday events
10 a.m., Roy Lake Memorial Draft Horse Events (including a two-horse pull)
10 a.m., state of Maine two-crusted apple pie contest (pies due at the Exhibition Tent by 10 a.m.). This statewide contest is sponsored by the Department of Agriculture. The top three finalists will be invited to compete in the state contest held during the Agricultural Trades Show in Augusta.

12:30 p.m., Jessica Prouty Band

3 p.m., frog-jumping contest (bring your own frog)
4 p.m., Durango Mango performs
4 p.m., pig scramble; for children ages 6-11; $3 per participant
6:30 p.m., Half Moon Jug Band
6:30 p.m., wrestling competition for children 6-16; $2 per participant
7 p.m., adult arm wrestling

Monday events
9:30 a.m., parade
All day, five $20 drawings and special children’s raffles. Participants must be present to win.
11 a.m., horse show
11 a.m., music, magic and balloons
11 a.m., Half Moon Jug Band
1:30 p.m., contests for adults and children (pie eating, pumpkin seed spitting and cookie stacking and more)
12:30 p.m., Conjuring Carroll performance
1:30 p.m., Kayla Wass performance
3 p.m., Kayla Wass performance
2:30 p.m., Maine-ly Balloons balloon-twisting team performance.
3 p.m., women’s skillet throw
4 p.m., men’s hammer throw
4:30 to 7 p.m., karaoke
7 p.m., Raffle drawings for Husqvarna 450 chain saw, area rug, wool blanket, Aladdin lamp, fudge, fleece blanket, gift certificates for pizza, books, paint, flooring, wreaths, area restaurants and groceries, or the DeLorme atlas, pool passes and more. Participants do not have to be present to win.
There are ongoing special exhibits and demonstrations, an animal barn, old farm machinery operation, including the thrasher and an antique tractor show. The Fiber Tent will have demonstrations using sheep, llama and rabbit fibers, as well as leather-carving demonstrations.
Great Adventure Climbing and Summit Adventure Systems of Maine are providing rides. There will also be a climbing wall all weekend and mechanical bull rides on Sunday and Monday. Ride bracelets will be available every day.
Free, live music also will be ongoing all weekend.
The Harmony Labor Day Free Fair is presented by the Harmony Patriarchs Club.
